at Nordic NW
It’s the Sunday before New Year’s Eve.
You’ve had enough of visiting family members.
You’ve had enough of the kids being at home all day with only you for entertainment.
And you don’t really have the energy for a glitzy, glamorous New Year’s bash.
This is why you need to come load up on new books, by local people, who are aching to tell you their dreams and hopes, all wrapped in an engrossing story.
Relax this New Year’s Eve. It will make the start of 2019 so much easier!
comes to Portland
Nowhere in the known universe is there a safer haven for a book than in Iceland. While Christmas in the U.S. might be about toys, gadgets, and other knicknacks, in Iceland, it’s about books.
Local books aren’t published year round the way they are elsewhere, but at the end of the year – in time for the “Yule Book Flood,” or Jolabokaflod.
That kicks off the book-gifting frenzy, which culminates on Christmas Eve. This is when Icelanders open their gifted books so the rest of the holiday can be enjoyed curled up with a good story.
And now we’re bringing this cozy tradition to Portland.
On Sunday, December 30 2018 from 3:30 to 6:30, PDX Jolabokaflod will feature local indie authors and illustrators, entertainment and refreshments from Nordic NW, raffles and giveaways, and a book donation drive for local libraries.
The event will be hosted by Nordic NW, located at:
Nordia House
8800 SW Oleson Rd.
